WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

PhreakUnique came from an idea of mine back in Feb. '03 after running a few of my own nights in and around town. Being resident of the infamous Fubar club for 5 years who better to have as a partner for this night than Martin Langer.

Over the last ten years me and Martin made names for ourselves within the rave scene element. After breaking away from the Fubar club we started to put on our own nights. So having had the dj/promoting experience we thought it would be a superb idea of running our own house night at the newly re-opened Meadowpark, Bridge of Allan, Stirling. This brand spanking new club opened it's doors in August 2003 named "The Beat" with a massive 500 capacity more than double there previous capacity of 200 max. This club has been rebuilt, reinvented and most of all refurbished with an awesome mixture of lavish and retro surroundings. Over the years the "Med" has been put on the map by it's regular bonkers nights hosted many years ago, this then gave us the opportunity to come up with a night that brought a great up for it crowd, guest dj's and a sublime mixture of quality house music.

We felt that there wasn't a scene in stirling for house music because of the type of clubs it had , which meant as soon "the beat" came about it opened up avenue's for local promoters to put there own nights on. Put it this way if it wasn't for nights such as Sessions, Source, Strut and PhreakUnique Stirling would have never seen the likes of, Yousef, Lottie, Silcone Soul, Mash, Jon Mancini and Huggy to name but a few.

So after a few meetings with the manager of the club, dates were set and PhreakUnique's first ever outing was friday the 14th of may which saw 'DJ Angel' from London appearing as special guest to the club. We booked Angel because she was quite hot property in england having just played in front of 3000 people at W Club, (Reo De Janero, Brazil) Pacha (Ibiza) Alter Ego (Verona) Queen Club (Paris) and Sage Club (Berlin) and also releasing her second club hit "Tell me on a sunday" this was quite a bit of an exciting experience for us and the night turned out to be a bit of success, considering it was only our first one. Having said that we lost a bit of money on the night due to the high expense we had to pay for everything but we looked at it as a learning curve and kept our chins up and continued to carry on regardless. Since then PhreakUnique has brought the Stirling punters the DJ talents of Jon Mancini, Ian 'Boney' Clarke, Huggy, Lisa Littlewood, Gareth Sommerville. Not to mention a couple of residents nights which have seen the local jocks Colin T, Roy M, Gigsy, Barry Mac, and Felly spinning for us. We thought we'd wait for the first year to pass not knowing if we would last that long or not before we introduced any big name DJ's.

To Pegzy & Big Bernard the guys behind (Sessions) who gave us a lot of useful advice and proved to us all that it can be done with a little help and a shit load of PR'ing cheers guys.

Beat 106, Clyde 1 FM, Huggy, Lisa, Jon, for mentioning us on the airwaves and to press that have given us a feature in there papers.

Our PR'ing girls Tracey, Jaxs and Shevvy for going out in the winter nights with hardly nothing on and getting people involved handing out flyers.

And most of all to all of the punters that had the decency to turn up at our nights and support us if it wasn't for you guys there would be none of these nights so long may it continue.
